As the number of
cruise passengers docking at Piraeus grows each year, with over 2.29 million
arrivals in 2014, US digital travel magazine Bon Voyage offers 10 reasons why
travellers should extend their stay in Athens.
Following her
recent visit to the Greek capital, arranged with the support of Marketing
Greece, travel writer Ann Abel suggests places to stay and dine, and
attractions likely to appeal to couples and families. She recommends the
Hellenic Cosmos cultural centre, taking water sports lessons in Anavyssos and
Vouliagmeni and a visit to the Acropolis Museum, among other activities.
Urging
cruise-goers to venture off the beaten path, she says: “The archaeological
monuments are as jaw-dropping as ever, but now the flavour of Athens is
